Esomeprazole 20 mg (Nexium 24HR 24HR 24HR) are a proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) medication used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and acid reflux by preventing the production of stomach acid. These tablets contain Esomeprazole 20 mg, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach.

Nexium 24HR 24HR 24HR is used to treat conditions such as:

• GERD (gastro-oesophagitis) caused by acid reflux-related enteritis
• Acute peptic ulcers caused by acid reflux caused by proton pump inhibitors
• Lower back pain caused by proton pump inhibitors
• The symptoms of acid reflux and GERD may include:

Nexium 24HR 24HR and the proton pump inhibitor (PPI) are both proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) that work in the same way as the natural PPIs, esomeprazole and lansoprazole. These tablets are designed to reduce the production of stomach acid, thereby preventing the acid from being produced. Nexium 24HR 24HR is designed for short-term use, as it will not cause any adverse effects when ingested for 24 hours after taking the medication. However, PPI medication can sometimes cause some side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain or regurgitation. Rare but serious side effects include the development of a prolonged (nasal) hemorrhage (priapism), which can damage the esophagus, leading to serious damage to the stomach.

• Do not let anyone else use this medication, since your patients may use it as well as you or they may develop a rare side effect such as gastrointestinal symptoms or skin reactions.

This tablet is to be taken with food if desired.
